The first question anyone ever asks is - what made you want to became an author? for me it was learning to read. As soon as I realised that someone was writing these stories, that was it for me.
Everyone told me that writing wasn’t a real job, and to get my head out of the clouds. And that's what I tried to do, I really did. Spending the twenty years or so after leaving college, working in a range of businesses including traditional publishing, creating business systems, sales and marketing.
In 2011 everything changed for me, and after a long struggle with my health, and a major collapse it became impossible for continue working for anyone else. The adjustment from independent to totally dependent was a major struggle. And there were some pretty dark times.
A few years in I began to feel stronger, studied a degree with the Open University, and realised that there was still life to be had. Best of all I finally the time - and space – to write.
Starting with a blog it wasn't long before my readers were asking for a book (or a sitcom), and a book was considerably easier to make happen.
Because of my own processing differences, it was really important for me that my books are accessible to as many people as possible. Without creating separate editions that would mark out difference, rather than be inclusive, so you'll find my books in electronic, paperback and audio versions.
